Next Saturday (the 29th of August) there will be a virtual Trock Meetup on BlogTV, at 12 PM GMT.

I Love the Doctor More Than You

Friends in Time has released a new song on their Myspace page entitled “I Love the Doctor More Than You”.

Friends of the Ood have posted two new songs on their Myspace page: “Human Paradox” and “Dear Jack.” On their new Youtube channel, friendsoftheoodmusic, the band has posted an additional song with a music video. Be warned: both “Dear Jack” and the music video have Torchwood spoilers.

Harriet Jones and the Former Prime Ministers has released a new track called “Doctor Who???” on their Myspace page.

The Year in Trock

Yesterday was the 6th of August — Trock Day. Exactly one year ago, the concept of writing and performing songs about Doctor Who was introduced to the world. Over the past year, trock has steadily made many achievements. More than fifty bands popped into existence, and met at the Trock On! forums, which, since it’s formation, has received over a hundred forum members interested in trock.

In its first year, trock has constantly been mentioned in various media. When “trock doctor who” is entered into the search engine on YouTube, nearly three thousand videos appear. Trock has been mentioned on several extremely popular news blogging websites, such as Wired.com, io9.com, and Fanboy.com. Trock has even graced the pages of the official Doctor Who Magazine twice.

Trock quickly branched out, with a YouTube channel dedicated to trock news and a trock-centric wiki, the Trockipedia. Chameleon Circuit, arguably the head runner in the trock experience, has earned quite a bit of notoriety over the year. They were featured as a cover story in Doctor Who Magazine and have been interviewed by The Park Bench, Den of Geek, and PocketTV. Harmonies in Whoville, the “companionless” one-woman band, has posted an album’s worth of  promising Whovian ballads on her Myspace that have garnered much-deserved attention. The Trock On! forums’ second home at DFTBA Records continued to putter along with the latest in the trockiverse. All the while, the trock fanbase grew to fantastic sizes.

In this year, trock has evolved beyond belief; at first, trock was simply an idea. Now, trock has become a tangible thing to  hundreds of people. And that is something worth celebrating. Happy Trock Day!
